Inspired in the west

Fíor Uisces' CEO Peter Keane called on local artist Gary Mc Ginty to research and develop artwork for the new branding for Fior Uisce.

Gary Mc Ginty is from Saula West, one of the Gaeltacht areas of Achill Island, Co. Mayo. After completing his studies in Architecture in Trinity College and DIT he pursued a career working in the Art Departments of some of the largest films made in Ireland including Michael Collins, King Arthur and the recent Emmy award nominated series "The Tudors".

His artwork is collected internationally and his has been selected for the Royal Hibernian Academy Annual Exhibition.

Natural & dynamic

The new logo mark was developed through a series of sketches, illustrations and photographs of sun light studies of the water. The brief was to capture the purity and spirit of the water- natural, dynamic, modern and Irish.

"We went back to basics" says Mc Ginty. We let the water inhabit the studio for a few weeks. We spilt it and studied water flow. We carried out a number of photo shoots in bright winter sunshine where the pure white light would pass through the pure water in various vessels, bottles glassess etc.

The resulting logo mark and concept artwork is informed by the water itself.
